Biography of Mother Teresa
Introduction:
Mother Teresa was a
Roman Catholic nurse who devoted her life to helping the poor and needy. She
worked as a missionary, assisting the needy and promoting the religion, for
which she is considered a symbol of compassion and compassion.
Early life and
Education:
Mother Teresa's
birth name was Agnes Gonza Bojaxhiu. She was born to an Albanian family. She
was the youngest in her family. Her father Nikollë Bojaxhiu worked as a
constructor.
Mother Teresa's
entire family was Catholic and her father was a supporter of Albanian
independence. Nicolas became ill when Teresa was only 8 years old and died in
1919. Her mother was an active religious woman in the affairs of the charity
and was greatly influenced by her mother.
At a young age,
Agnes began to influence the saint's life, started her education in a
convent-run school and joined the local Sacred Heart choir in the church. She
listened to the stories of Catholic missionaries and only then did she decide
to work for the good of humanity.
At the age of 12,
she realized that she had to go ahead. She made many religious visits to the
Catholic Church and her views were especially favorable because of the Black
Madonna's Shrine of Vitina-Letnice. She changed her name to Teresa in 1931 as a
model of the missionary's Saint St Therese of Lisieux.
Mother Teresa in
India:
Mother Teresa along
with other nuns of her institute came to Darjeeling city of India in 1929,
where she took her first religious pledge as a nun.
After that she was
sent to Calcutta as a teacher. Sister Lorento of Dublin in Calcutta had
established Saint Mary's School, where Mother Teresa used to teach poor and
helpless children, in fact, Mother Teresa had a good grasp in both Hindi and
Bengali, while she was very diligent from the beginning. She also performed her
work with integrity and integrity, and she had become a beloved teacher of
children.
At the same time,
her attention went to the poverty, sickness, helplessness, illiteracy and
ignorance spread around her, which she was very sad to see. Let me tell you,
this was the period when a large number of deaths were taking place in the city
of Calcutta due to famine, and due to poverty, the condition of the people was
very bad, which Mother Teresa saw the poor, helpless, sick and needy. Vowed to
serve.
How did Mother
Teresa’s Life Change:
On September 10, 1946, Mother Teresa experienced a new experience that changed her life.
According to Mother Teresa - On this day she was going to Darjeeling from
Calcutta for some work, then Jesus spoke to her and said, leave the teaching
work and serve the poor, helpless, sick people of Calcutta. But when Mother
Teresa took the vow of obedience, she could not leave the convent without
government permission. In January 1948, she received a permit, after which she
left school.
After that Mother
Teresa adopted a white striped blue striped saree and appeared throughout her
life. She took nursing training from Patna in Bihar, and returned to Calcutta
and joined the service of the poor. Mother Teresa built a hermitage for orphan
children, and other churches began to raise their hands to help her. While
doing this work, they also had to face many problems.
She had no
financial help because she quit her job, she had to spread her hands in front
of people to fill her stomach. But Mother Teresa was not afraid of all these
things, she had full faith in her Lord, she was sure that the God who had
called her to start this work would also complete it.
Missionaries of
Charity:
To help the poor
and needy, Mother Teresa completed nursing training at Holy Family Hospital in
Patna and then came to Calcutta in 1948 and joined the care of the poor,
helpless and the elderly.
On October 7, 1950,
after much effort, Mother Teresa was allowed to become a missionary of charity
working in the interest of society.
In addition, Mother
Teresa, the goddess of compassion, also opened ashram in the name of 'Nirmal
Hriday' and 'Nirmala Shishu Bhavan', which was aimed at treating poor and sick
people and assisting orphans and homeless children.
Mother Teresa Controversy:
Despite this wide
acclaim, Mother Teresa's life and work brought the controversy to a standstill.
It says where success takes place, conflicts follow it. People also
misunderstood the kindness and love of Mother Teresa's selfless spirit and she was
accused of serving the purpose of conversion of people to India. People
considered her a preacher of Christianity, not considering her a good person.
On top of all of this, Mother Teresa used to focus on her own work, ignoring
her words and giving more attention to her work.
Death:
Since 1980, Mother
Teresa had health and cardiovascular problems. Mother Teresa was handling the
missionary's charity work and its branches as before, even with her health
problems. April 1996 Mother Teresa's collar broke the collar bone, after that
Mother Teresa's health began to fall sharply and she passed away on September
5, 1997.
